1.The Original

Station information:

The base of Martin 6 is located in the Glemmtal valley near the center of Hinterglemm. Since this region is heavily frequented by tourists in both winter and summer, a helicopter base was built in 2004 to improve the emergency medical care in the area. Even though Heli-Austria provides the aircraft and pilots, the actual operator is Wolf Helicopter GmbH & Co. KG, managed by the hotelier Thomas Wolf, managing director of the hotel "The Alpine Palace" in Hinterglemm.

Chronology of the base

Due to the cooperation between Wolf Helicopter GmbH & Co KG and Knaus Helicopter GmbH at that time, Martin 6 with its German identifier D-HHTW is taking off for the first time from its provisional base for deployment. The MD902 Explorer was previously used as HL9225 in the Korean Air. A short time later, the helicopter receives its Austrian identifier OE-XWH.

After 14 years of operation, the MD902 OE-XWH is retired. The new helicopter type H135 (EC135 T3) with registration OE-XWM receives the first helicopter of the Heli-Austria fleet a white livery and is covered in the design of the cooperation partner Red Cross Salzburg.
